The Lord is My Helper

I've been praying for my daughter...and her fears. A very wise woman I know recommended that I read scripture to her whenever she gets scared... God is good, because as I started doing this.. she was also learning a song/scripture in her bible study class.. One day, she came home singing Hebrews 13:6...

"The Lord is my helper, my helper, my helper... The Lord is my helper, I will not be afraid!"

What Counts

"It is the work that God does through us that counts, not what we do for Him"

Beloved...

We named our daughter Abigail.. which means "beloved". My husband bought a shirt with this verse on it.. and thought it would be a great verse for her. :)

Deuteronomy 33:12
"Let the beloved of the Lord rest secure in Him, for He shields him all day long, and the one the Lord loves rests between His shoulders."

Fruit of the Spirit

Fruit of the Spirit

22But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, 23gentleness and self-control. Galatians 5:22-23 (New International Version)

Praying that God would help me in these areas today with my 3 1/2 year old... especially patience, kindness, gentleness and self-control.

Renewed

"Therefore we do not lose heart. Though outwardly we are wasting away,
yet inwardly we are being renewed day by day.
For our light and momentary troubles are achieving for us an eternal glory
that far outweighs them all."

2 Corinthians 4:16-17

God is Light

1 John 1:5-9 (New American Standard Bible)

5This is the message we have heard from Him and announce to you, that God is Light, and in Him there is no darkness at all.

6If we say that we have fellowship with Him and yet walk in the darkness, we lie and do not practice the truth;

7but if we walk in the Light as He Himself is in the Light, we have fellowship with one another, and the blood of Jesus His Son cleanses us from all sin.

8If we say that we have no sin, we are deceiving ourselves and the truth is not in us.

9If we confess our sins, He is faithful and righteous to forgive us our sins and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness.

Healing

When we are going through difficult times, it's easy to say "Why me?!?!"... but instead, God wants us to ask "What are you teaching me through this?". He promises in Jeremiah 33:6:

"I will heal them and reveal to them the abundance of peace and truth"

God and Our Priorties

Jesus warns the crowds not to be consumed by the LOVE OF MONEY or the WORRIES OF LIFE. He calls us to be good stewards of what we have, to trust Him for our needs, and to live ready for His return.

Asking God

In the Lord's Prayer, Jesus encourages us to pray for our needs as children make requests of their father: with love, trust, and the expectation of receiving an answer. is there something you need? Ask God. "There is the confidence we have in approaching God: that if we ask anything according to His will, He hears us." (1 John 5:14)

Sitting At Jesus' Feet

Luke 10:38-42

38
As Jesus and his disciples were on their way, he came to a village where a woman named Martha opened her home to him. 39She had a sister called Mary, who sat at the Lord's feet listening to what he said. 40But Martha was distracted by all the preparations that had to be made. She came to him and asked, "Lord, don't you care that my sister has left me to do the work by myself? Tell her to help me!"

41"Martha, Martha," the Lord answered, "you are worried and upset about many things, 42but ONLY ONE THING IS NEEDED. Mary has chosen what is better, and it will not be taken away from her."

The Lord wants us to serve and do good works... but He reminds us in this passage that the most important thing (our first priority should be) to sit at His feet... and to give Him our full devotion.

Will Not Forget

"Can a woman forget her nursing child, And not have compassion on the son of her womb? Surely they may forget, Yet I will not forget you.
